Short Description

Our client is looking for an Assistant to start working urgently.

Duties and Responsibilities

To engage in individual and cross-discipline collaborative research projects on the structural and functional analysis of proteins relevant to human health, with an emphasis on TB;
To undergo train and become proficient in cross-discipline proteomics based protocols for the elucidation of signal transduction systems associated with disease progression,
with an emphasis on TB;
To build up international proteomics research collaborations;
To run projects associated with HPLC equipment;
To engage in train to become proficient in clone, expression and purification of functional proteins;
To contribute to grant applications and research funding support for state-of-the-art equipment;
To assist in supervision of junior postgraduate students and providing guidance in functional proteomics;
To become familiar with managerial (staff, financial, and data management) and project administration;
To partake in dissemination of research find through DHET-accredited publications and presentations.

Key Requirements:

Must have an MSc in Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology, or enrolled as a PhD student;
If applicant holds only an MSc degree, evidence of eligibility to undertake postgraduate study at doctoral level should be shown (obtained 70% or above);
Be 40 years or younger;
Must have willingness to commit to placement at the appointing university for the full six years of the programme;
Must have aspire to an academic career in molecular biology with a specialization in proteomics and pursuing further career development;
Must have demonstrated practical experience in proteomics with evidence of research outputs in the field.
