Short Description     

Duties            

• To present information sessions at the waiting rooms of participating antenatal clinics regarding the study;
• To engage with community-based antenatal support groups to identify potential study participants;
• To identify pregnant women at antenatal clinics for possible participation in the study;
• To obtain informed consent from potential participants;
• To notify participants of their scheduled visits;
• To perform telephonic interviews with participants;
• To assist the Senior Research Nurse in the daily clinical activities;
• To assist the Senior Research Nurse with the phlebotomy – and other procedures in both adults and infants;
• To assist the driver with the transportation of participants if necessary.

Key Requirements   

• Must have South African Senior Certificate, or an equivalent secondary education qualification;
• Residing in the Breede Valley (Worcester) area;
• Must have knowledge of the Worcester and Breede Valley communities;
• Must have experience with working in a clinical setting with caregivers and children;
• The ability to work independently as well as within a research team;
• Excellent administrative and organisational skills;
• Must have a valid driver’s licence;
• A skilled driver;
• Fluent in English, Afrikaans and/or isiXhosa.
• Recommendation/Aanbeveling
• Must have experience with clinical research;
• Training in Good Clinical Practice;
• Must have proof of training in HIV counselling;
• Must have knowledge of the use of a research database;
• A background in nursing pregnant women, infants and children.
